Official Rules of the Flave Awards

All entries must be manufactured in a professional, inspected food facility.  All entrants must be certified professional manufacturers, following all FDA or Home (origin) Country regulations designated for consumer mass production by a certified kitchen, and/or co-packer. No “home packed” products may be entered. Labels must meet FDA or Home (origin) Country guidelines.

General Info:
 

The Artisan Flave Award winners will be announced in May.  Products need to arrive by April 22nd

to be judged in this years' competition.

 

All entries must be correctly bottled and sealed according to standard food and health safety procedures. Contest management reserves the right to discard and disqualify any entries that are not properly bottled or sealed, according to food and health safety procedures.

 

No Capsicum Extract may be used in any product entered.

 

All entrants must submit Three (3) samples for each Category entered. All entries must be Category appropriate.  Each of the 3 “samples” should be standard sized and properly labeled. Jerky minimum of 8 oz. of Jerky.

 

Kombucha, Salsa, and other Product Manufacturers whose products require refrigeration should be shipped accordingly and refrigerated by International  Flavor Awards prior to judging are acceptable.

Product must be shipped along with the entry form and full payment of fees if not paid online and must be received by the entry deadline date to be considered eligible. All entries must be carefully packaged. We will not be held responsible for any damage incurred during shipping.

 

Entry forms must be filled out completely and submitted online and then printed and sent in with product. 

When shipping, please do not require a signature for delivery, so as not to delay arrival of your products.

NO REFUNDS

You may enter as many products as you like. For instance, you may enter the mild, medium, and hot versions of your wing sauce, but these count as three separate entries. Products that are submitted in various flavors must have one entry per flavor.

 

All entries will be reviewed to deem them Division Appropriate. We reserve the right to move products to another Division, to create or to split Divisions as it deems necessary, without notice.

 

A category of a Division must receive a minimum of Three (3) entries to qualify for judging. If a category does not receive at least three entries, the remaining entries will be combined into a “General” category with in the Division. Management reserves the right to create or delete categories based on the number of product entries.

All products will be judged “as is” and will not be mixed or served with any other products before tasting. Each product must be properly labeled with ingredients listed along with the name of the product on each entry bottle.

Disqualified entries will not be notified of disqualification. Please be sure to read these rules thoroughly and if any questions please refer them to Award Administrator before entering.

Any unopened products at the end of judging may be donated to a local food bank.

 

Judging Criteria:

 

The judging panel can be made up of food industry professionals, including chefs, restaurant owners, culinary instructors restaurant owners, culinary instructors, food writers, food manufacturers, other industry leaders and professionals & may also include celebrities or media professionals.

 

All product sampling will be conducted under the strictest of standards using fair, impartial and blind judging methods.

 

The decision of the judges is final, may not be contested, and in no way reflects the opinions of the above organizations.

 

Products will be judged on the following criteria: appearance, aroma, texture, flavor, use of heat, creativity and overall impression.

 

Products in the Marketing division will be judged on: design, creativity, visual impact, originality, marketability, and overall impression.

 

Each food entry is judged in a blind tasting using a numbered cup to represent each entry. Judges are not allowed to see any indication of the brand, owner, or manufacturer of the product.

 

Scoring:

 

Each entry shall be scored on its own merits with a whole number from 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest. Decimals (.5) will be taken into consideration. Each entry must be scored by a minimum of three judges. Score sheets are then tabulated by calculating the total score for each entry and dividing by the number of judging sheets for each product to obtain an overall average score. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes available for each sub category with three or more entries.

 

Announcing Winners:

 

Winners will be announced at a predetermined time & place of the organizers. Winning products will not be revealed until this time. Upon the announcement of the winning products, the awards will be given to those who are present. For those who are not present, the awards will be shipped to them within one month of the announcements. Winners agree to allow International Flavor Awards, LLC. to use their product name for promotional purposes.
